UNIT 14 LEARNER NEEDS
In this unit I analyzed
the learner needs and I realized that learners always have
different needs which we as teachers must know and be aware of them. They could
have personal needs such as
age, gender, cultural background, interests, educational background motivation and personality, and
that we as teachers have to help them for example choosing suitable topics and approaches, also the pace of the lessons and that the
treatment should be different for individual learners.
Also, they could
have learning needs such as their learning
styles and past language learning experiences, learning gap, different learners goals and expectations, this
fits most to adult learners because teenagers and children may not have them
yet. For this reason to fit learning needs the teacher must choose different
topics and different assessment activities
and also make them use different learning
styles.
For a teacher it
is also relevant to know the professional needs of older learners because they
may be studying at English-medium universities, start a new job or start new
job duties.

Good job Criss!
ReplyDeleteYour reflection ontents all the main points about this topic. I like when you say that teachers have also to consider the professional needs of older learners since most of time teachers do not focus on it and that is why some learners feel demotivated. your links are very useful for teachers. Thanks for sharing!!
